Jesus Picked Up The Tab . . . .

One day a restaurant had a grand opening.

The restaurant was called “SRENNIS”, and it was beautiful from the inside, out.

The restaurant had beautiful marble floors, and golden utensils. It had a large fish tank which covered about 70% of the entire restaurant. But what stood out more than the beautiful furnishing of the restaurant was its delicious food. The restaurant had a buffet style table that measured 275 feet in length! And on the table was every food you could possibly think of. That elegant culinary cuisine! The Good Stuff! But the very best part of the buffet was the sign above the table which read:

“Eat As Much As You Want, And Pay The Same Price As If You Only Had One Plate”

People were ecstatic! Word soon spread like wildfire, and before you knew it, people from all over were crowding into the restaurant daily! They would eat as much as their bodies would allow them to, and then some! The lines were sometimes blocks long. People kept coming back because of the continuous changing of the, already delicious, menu and the unbeatable price. One day a customer was enjoying his meal, as he normally did, when he asked a question to one of the waitresses, whose name tag read: “Tempt”. . .

“I just noticed that I’ve been coming here for weeks and have never paid a cent for anything that
I’ve eaten. When exactly do I have to pay and how much will it cost?”

Tempt smiled and said:

Shhh!!! Everyone be quiet! This man just asked a very good question, which applies to all of you!”

The customers slowly stopped eating and thirstily filling their plates, one by one, in utter silence; awaiting to be further informed. Tempt said:

“He wants to know why he has never paid a cent for all the food he has eaten, and he wants to know

exactly how much it will cost”.

Suddenly, each person’s face in the restaurant wore a puzzled expression – immediately realizing the same fact. None of them had ever paid for a thing. Tempt began to tell everyone in the restaurant:

“Well today is payday, and like the sign above says, you all will pay the same price; no matter how little or how much you ate”.

The customers responded with:

“Ok, well how much would that be?”

Tempt smiled and said:

“All of you must pay with your life! You all have been over-indulging and feeding yourselves sin for weeks on end. With everyday, and every plate you have put in, you must all be put to death and spend eternity in Hell!”

The customers were all filled with such a great fear because they all knew that they had been guilty. Not a single customer could stand and say that they had never ate a thing. Just as all the customers were lined up and getting ready to pay, someone walked into the restaurant. There was something very peculiar about this person because he had never been seen in “SRENNIS” before until this day. The thing about him that caught everyone’s attention was how he walked past all of the customers that were standing in line and went straight to the front. When Tempt saw this, she said to the man:

“Excuse me, don’t you see this line? Don’t worry, you’ll pay your price just like everyone else”

The man said not a word and pulled out a credit card which read “LOVE”.

Swiped it at the register.

Then quietly walked out.

When the first customer came up to pay the price for all that he had ate, Tempt pulled up his account and a confused look came across her face. The customer said:

“What’s wrong? Is my debt too great? Oh, please have mercy on me!!!”

Tempt got up from behind the register, and in an uneasy tone, said to all the people who were waiting in line:

“Umm. . . Something’s wrong with our computer system. After the man that came to the front of the line, evidently named “Jesus Christ”, swiped his card, it shows that every last one of your debts has been paid. This means that you are all free to go.”

Immediately, there was a simultaneous burst of joy, relief, and excitement that flooded the entire restaurant!

But with a sly grin, Tempt left each one of the customers with these words:

“Don’t worry. . .  you’ll all be back. You can’t resist our delicious food . . . “

How many of you have revisited “SRENNIS” after Jesus paid the price for your sin debt? Have you made “Tempt” a liar or was she telling the truth? Remember that “SRENNIS” spelled backwards is SINNERS! And Christ paid that debt a long time ago so that you won’t have to. Will you surrender to Him? Or is the food at “SRENNIS” too good to give up?

Choose Christ and Live!!

For all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for sins.”

In The Words of Satan – The Arrows

Two girls. Pam de Menezes and Christie Desfontaine. Super talented in more ways than one. From the city of Durban, South Africa. Formed a band called The Arrows in 2006. In this video, they present to you the relentless, uncompromising truth behind the evil purpose, intentions, and tactics of the Father of Lies. Satan. This song brings forth utter conviction, and covers every aspect of what LIFE entails.

Brace yourself.

And get ready to have the wool pulled from over your eyes…

If anybody recalls, back in 2002 there was a nation wide televised story on the news about the abduction of a young girl from Colorado named Elizabeth Smart. The young woman was kidnapped in the middle of the night at knife point by a masked man and held captive for close to a year. The nation rejoiced when after 9 months Elizabeth was found about 20 miles from her home. This was a happy ending for such a scenario, being that most child abductions don’t always end this way. But later on Elizabeth’s horrific story was told…

Elizabeth had been taken from her home.

Taken to a dark, and secluded, wooded area.

Made to wear a ceremonial robe by another accomplice.

And made to “marry” her abductor, and was later raped.

The, sometimes continuous, raping occurred daily.

She was made to drink alcohol and would regurgitate after consuming so much.

And was later made to lay face down in her own vomit.

Elizabeth’s story is a difficult story for anyone to hear, BUT it is one that many of us have been through spiritually, or are currenty going through as we speak. God Loves us (mankind)! We are His most prized and precious Creation. He Loved us so much that He wanted to make us different from His previous creations when He said:

“Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us…”(Genesis 1:26 New Living Translation).

Man lived in the constant presence of God; and all was given to us because God Loved us so much. But because of the trap, in the form of a “fruit”, laced with deception and temptation by none other than Satan himself; the disobedience of man was brought forth. That’s when sin came into the world (Romans 5:12). And the cause of that was that we were held captive by sin

ALL OF US (Romans 3:23)…

Our sins took us further and further away from our original home (God’s presence), and dragged us to a dark and barren place where we were married to our sins. In fact, our sins were our master (Romans 6:16)! Our sins made us do things that wasn’t in accordance to God’s Word. Our sins took and held us captive! God’s most precious Creation was in the possession of sin… And appeared to be DEAD (Ephesians 2:1)… With no appearance of hope to bring us back to our original home (God’s presence). But that only lasted until Christ stepped in and brought us back home to our place of belonging!

And he did so with His death on the cross.

Apostle Paul said:

“…who will free me from this life that is dominated by SIN and DEATH?” (Romans 7:24)

That question was answered for all of us who were once taken hostage by sin…

And the Answer is Jesus Christ.

Now we have a success story!!!

Although we were taken from our original intended place (God’s presence) by our abductor (sin), we were later found and brought back to our Father. And because we were brought back, we are now able to receive God’s Spirit as His children where we can call Him “Daddy” (Romans 8:15).

Are You Still Held Captive By Sin?

The key to escape is FAITH! Faith in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. And it is only by faith, alone, that you can be set free from your abductor, sin.

Receive the Holy Spirit and be set free…

Matthew 25:31-46

“But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit upon His glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in His presence, and He will separate the people as a shepherd separates the SHEEP from the GOATS. He will place the sheep at His right hand and the goats at His left. Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visited you?’

And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison; and not help you?’

And He will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’

“And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

I know there’s times when you see homeless people in the street panhandling, and begging for money, and sometimes it’s easier for a lot of us to just simply ignore them and continue on about our business. This is an appropriate time to question yourself, though…

“What Would JESUS Do?”

Ultimately, we all want to make it through those “pearly gates” (Revelation 21:21). And in order to get there…YOU MUST SHOW LOVE! And in order for you to show Love – it MUST dwell within you. Paul the apostle wrote in his epistle (his letter) to the Corinthian church that

“Three things [you should] abide by; and [indeed does] last forever – FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE; BUT THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE!!!” (1 Corinthians 13:13)

It’s more than obvious that in order for you to believe in God and His Son, it’s a MUST that you have FAITH. Accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior is one of the very first steps to receiving Salvation – in addition to the repentance of sins. So, the importance of the neccessity of FAITH is very clear!

HOPE is defined as CONFIDENT TRUST! This is a corequisite to FAITH. They both go hand in hand. Faith begets Hope!

So heading back to the scripture. These 2 things – in addition to LOVE is imperative for you to have. Yet, LOVE is the greatest of them all! The Love of God is what saves! “For God so LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

So if it’s known, clear as day, that without FAITH in Christ and Hope that the things He says will come to pass, it is impossible for your soul to even be in arm’s reach of Heaven; it should also be beyond clear that you won’t make it without showing your brethren LOVE.

“For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should LOVE one another.” (1 John 3:11)

Jesus Himself said:

“…do unto others as you would like them to do unto you. If you Love only those who Love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners Love those who Love them! And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! And if you lend money to only those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return. LOVE YOUR ENEMIES! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from Heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for He is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.” (Luke 6:31-36)

Christian hip-hop artist and writer, Sho Baraka said

“people too busy READING the Bible and not BEING the Bible.”

And my Pastor, Bishop Beckles of  The United Holiness Church of Faith in Christ, always says

“…let your light shine because the world isn’t watching the Bible, they’re watching us.”

So are you a SHEEP?

Or are you a GOAT???

Always be mindful of the level of priority to produce the 9-fold fruit of the Spirit, which is

“If I gave EVERTHING I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t LOVE OTHERS, I would have gained NOTHING.”  (1 Corinthians 13:3)

“I Don’t Know About You, But I Wanna Know What LOVE Is!!!”

So, what is LOVE?

By definition, Love is:

tender, passionate affection or strong personal liking.

But is that all Love is?

Apparently, I’m not the only one who wants to know what Love is; because it is also the title of a very popular ballad by a rock band called Foreigner. The chorus of the song is a simple request:

I want to know what Love is”.

And furthermore, the leading vocalist wants someone to show him.
But what does the bible say about Love?

It is of no surprise that the word “Love” appears more than 500 times in the NIV (New International Version) Bible; and about 700 if you count the different variations of the word “Love” (e.g. “loves”, “loved” etc).

By biblical definition, the word Love means:

The ULTIMATE expression of God’s Loyalty, Purity, and Mercy extended towards His people.

God’s Love is so faithful and it endures forever! (1 Chronicle 16:41, Psalms 106:1) King David said in Psalms 59:10,In his unfailing love, my God will stand with me. He will let me look down in triumph on all my enemies” (New Living Translation). And this Psalm was written during a time when Saul had sent soldiers to watch over David’s house so they could kill him! But even in the midst of that, David saw God’s “UNFAILING LOVE

The best example of God’s Love is found in one of the most famous scriptures in the entire Bible… and that’s John 3:16.

God Loved the world (us) so much that he sent his One and Only Son into this sinful world to DIE for us all! Because, lets face it! Scripturally speaking, we have ALL missed the mark (Romans 3:23); and rightfully so, we all deserve punishment for our sins, and transgressions towards God (Romans 6:23). But God – in all of His Love – has declared us sinners to be righteous when we believe in His Son’s perfect sacrifice (Romans 3:24-25).

So going back to the songwriter’s request, he wanted to know what Love is…

Well, that’s simple… GOD IS LOVE! (1 John 4:8).

And He did more than enough to show this! Because while we were enemies, Christ died for us sinners (Romans 5:6-8).

“For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful LOVE for you will remain…”

Isaiah 54:10 (New Living Translation)

God bless.

“Only God Can Judge Me…”

Only God Can Judge Me…

You usually see this statement tatted on the arms, the chest, and the backs or the bellies of some… (maybe even somewhere on a face or two). You might’ve even noticed those very same words pasted on a few vehicles as you’ve driven yours, or while you walked down the street. You might know some of these same people; or you, yourself, may be one of them. But regardless of which position you fall in; there is some clarification that needs to, both, be given and received.

I, myself, have been one to say this phrase very often when someone may have stated a remark in opposition to something that I may have done wrong, that I thought was right. Many might say this in reference to something that they’ve done which was on the contrary to popular belief, like birthing a baby while still in Junior High School, for example.

But our problem today, as a people, is the major lack of knowledge and understanding.

Not only is the mind a great gift, but it’s also a very great and useful tool that the Lord has granted us with.

So let us utilize that real quick…

Other than senseless, non-productive, and empty phrases; WHY is

Only God Can Judge Me

the most chosen line to escape the lips of those who continuously dwell in sin???

Based on my own account, I would state this phrase basically because I would look at that man or woman and back that up with: “we’re both made of the same blood and of the same flesh. Who do you really think you are to be passing judgment on my actions…?” Hmm… So

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone“, huh? (John 8:7)

Well… some people may say this line to make it known that they are aware that they will eventually ”reap what they sow”. And this is true, indeed. The word states this several times in Job 4:8, Proverbs 22:8, Galatians 6:8, 2 Corinthians 9:6… and the list goes on.  Most, though, may state it in reference to after death, when they meet their Maker and are judged for everything that they’ve done in this life. For Christ says

“…every idle word men may speak, they will give an account for in the day of Judgment. For by your words you will be justfied, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matthew 12:36-37).

So it’s evident that all three reasons for this statement, “only God can judge me“, are scripturally valid. But what about when we look at THE BIGGER PICTURE?

In Matthew 28:18-20,  Jesus sent His disciples out on a mission! “THE GREAT COMMISSION!!” (And for those who don’t know this, this is exactly what YOU are when you are a follower of Christ – His DISCIPLE). After being BRUTALLY MURDERED on the cross for YOUR SINS and YOUR TRANSGRESSIONS, and after being ressurrected, Christ appeared to His disciples and commissioned them to work for Him.

Now who wouldn’t wanna work for Jesus??

Like.. He’s the best employer life will EVER offer you!!

Anyway, He told them to

“… go and make disciples of all nations… teachng them to observe all things that I have commanded you.”

As followers of Christ, it is our life’s duty to spread The Gospel (“the good news” of Him, His life, His death, and His ressurrecton) to every.. single.. person we come in contact with. All we do, when speaking to another individual, is repeat EXACTLY what is in the word of the Lord without adding to, or taking away from. So when someone rebukes (blatantly correct) your behavior or your actions, according to the Word, it is crucial to understand that they are not judging you, but are simply passing along the Word of God to you with hopes that you might take heed. We all know that not one of us are without sin – whether Christian or not.

Understand that you really are being helped – not harmed, or criticized, or violated.

And for those who may, indeed, think that they are being “criticized” by man – YOU AREN’T! You are being criticized by God through man. This is one of the forms in which God utilizes to, sometimes, communicate with us. The Lord says that

“He who have an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches (Revelation 2:7).”

“..and to them who may not know this, it’s not a brick building, but WE are the churches. The same body that you serve with. The same one you wash, eat your meal, and go to work with. This body is not your own! It was not made for sin, but for PRAISE and WORSHIP! ” (Mali Music)

So in a nutshell, we all can save it with the corny, played out line

“only God can Judge me”.

Let’s give it a rest, because God has already judged youCLEARLY & BLATANTLY – in His Word!

2 Corinthian 13:5 says to

EXAMINE YOURSELVES to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. [with the Word]! Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.”

So seek to get edified… NOW!

Let’s not allow the Day of Judgment to be the FIRST time we are judged by the Lord.

I Beg You To Get w/It…

Written By::: Michelle Phipps

“Hmm.. It’s Sunday. What Will I Wear?”

Jeremiah 17:10 “But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives…”

Most of us at one time or another has had this happen to us: We are invited to a church or we willingly decide to attend church but when we get there we are either stared at or made to feel unaccepted. If this has not happen to you, it may have happened to someone you know… right? One of the many unfortunate leading reasons/causes of this uncomfortable situation is quite simply: “THE CHURCH DRESSCODE”. I took notice that this happens more so to church goers of a younger age group, predominately 16-30 years old. Not only is the staring an uncomfortable feeling to have to bear during the church service, but it also makes you not want to return to that church – or any church for that matter! And it, unfortunately, leaves you with the feeling: “church people are so judgmental, and stuck up”.
As a PK (Pastors Kid) and young minister, I’ve definitely seen the devastating results of such behavior in church. This behavior, not only is UNSCRIPTURAL (not found in the bible), but it actually draws people away from the church, or WORSE – away from God! So the question that many people have, outside the church as well as inside the church is, “Does God Care About How I Dress In Church If I’m Coming With A Sincere Heart?” Well, rather than going by word of mouth lets be as the Bereans (Acts 17:11) and check the scriptures to answer this question head on…
Clothing, or rather uniformed clothing, plays its’ role in our society. For example, if I saw a house on fire and there were only two people standing across the street wearing uniforms, which one of these people would I get to assist me???
– JOE: the athlete, who is wearing a track suit and running shoes?
– GREG: the fireman, who is wearing the required regulation firefighter’s uniform along with the gear given by the NYFD?
I hope you chose GREG, the firefighter!
Now, let’s make it a little more personal. Some of us work at places where there is a dress code set up in place. If the jobs’ dress code states that you’re not allowed to wear jeans and sneakers, then most of us would adhere to the jobs’ dress code ,or else our job would take disciplinary actions. Those are a few examples, but let’s check the final authorityThe Bible.
I hope we all can agree that God is an orderly God, and one of utmost order (1 Corinthians 14:33). He ain’t sloppy! Now let’s take a peek in the Old Testament. God was so detailed in His instructions to Israel that He gave them detailed rules concerning their daily lives from:
procedures for the different types of offerings (Leviticus 1-7), to ordination of the different offices (Leviticus 8-9), the handling of contaminated and unclean objects (Leviticus 11-15), what they ate (Leviticus 17), their sexual practices (Leviticus 18), and even how they were to observe the major holidays and festivals.
The best example of a “dress code” I see in the Bible is found in Leviticus 16:2-4. Specifically look at verse 4, where God tells this to Moses concerning his brother Aaron:
“He must put on his linen tunic and the linen undergarments worn next to his body. He must tie the linen turban on his head. THESE ARE SACRED GARMENTS, so he must bathe himself in water before he puts them on.”
God was so detailed in his instructions that he actually gave Moses a design of how the clothing for the priest should be made! (Exodus 39). The priests of Israel were not to enter into the tabernacle any kind of way they wanted, or else that action would be punished by God. Please do not be FOOLED. The enemy (Satan) is very sly and deceiving. What God meant to be used for distinguishing his people as different and Holy from others, the Devil crept in and twisted it.
The best examples of a dress code, and other practices given by God gone HORRIBLY wrong, are the Pharisees. These were members of ancient Jewish sects, and they adhered, and held, to following the traditions of the Law of Moses. Although the Pharisees tried their best to keep with the traditions given by God… they had many faults. The main fault of the Pharisees had been SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS. The other was ADDING TO THE WORD OF GOD, which is a no-no (Deuteronomy 4:2). These Pharisees were so concentrated on the traditions that they had actually began to put them in higher regard over the Word of God (Matthew15:1-9). They did this so much that they even tried to catch Jesus in breaking these traditions! But of course our Savior Jesus Christ had to put them in check real quick (Matthew 15:10-13).
So with that brief review of scripture what can we come to understand?
Does God expect a dress code?
Well… let’s see what God truly does expect from us as His children.
Scripturally speaking, God has called all of His people to be Holy. Because He is Holy (Leviticus 11:45). And furthermore, God had sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die! Just for US alone! All so that we may die to our old way of life! And as children of God, we must be obedient to Him, and be Holy in everything that we do; which entails doing our endeavor BEST to not slip back into our old ways of living for the sole reason being that we have received His Holy Spirit… which was received only by grace through faith (1 Peter 1:14-16).
It is an absolute honor to represent God and belong to Him. And as representatives of the Most High God, we must not be like the world. That means I want to reflect my Father’s image in every facet of my life. I want to be distinguished from the world. And just like the priests in the Old Testament had specific designed clothing for “church”…
which God blueprinted Himself…
It makes you wonder…
So the answer to the question: does God have a dress code?
Scripturally speaking, YES, God did have a dress code. But what’s even more important is that God has a LIFE CODE! We have a call that He wants us to live up to. His image which He wants us to reflect. But we cannot, by any means, do any of that without receiving His Holy Spirit into our lives. That’s the main ingredient that the Pharisees were missing in the “quest” for “super righteousness”.
So the next time that you are made to feel uncomfortable, or you are the one to make someone else feel uncomfortable because of what they’re wearing to church, remember what Jesus said when quoting the prophet Isaiah:
“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me” (Matthew 15:8).
And remember, when we get to Heaven to be judged by God…
we don’t want Him to say
Well done, my well dressed servant”.
We want to hear Him say
Well done, thy fine and faithful servant”.
